Fashion is a booming industry. With it’s customer base growing even more each year, it’s no surprise that the fashion industry is moving forward with the use of more advanced technology. The way we use technology now is a game-changer, it forms almost every aspect of our lives. And the fashion industry is capitalising on tech by using it to make better clothes, and better shopping experiences for consumers.
So to stay on top of what’s to come - here’s our round up of the technologies that are transforming how we shop!
The use of Artificial Intelligence is like a Sci-Fi film coming to life. It has the ability to convert data into information that can help improve speed, service, cost and flexibility for all aspects of the fashion industry. In fashion, AI can help with trend and market forecasting, inventory planning, and merchandising. AI also uses algorithms to learn images and generate new styles.
Fashion is also using highly advanced materials to give clothes new functionality. Making use of nanotechnology to make smart fibres for apparel and even furniture apparel. The denim company Levi’s produced a sample for a commuter jacket that connects to smartphones, the jacket’s sleeve is designed to accept touch commands.
Automated convenience stores are hitting up Beijing and Shanghai. The service is powered by WeChat, a Chinese mobile messaging app. Automated convenience stores features require no checkout, no cash, and no sales people. Customers can scan QR codes to enter the store and select products, and use the app to pay.
And here at Lucia Josephine, we love incorporating tech with tradition (like our partnership with mPort), and are always on the hunt for new collaborations to make our bespoke experience even more amazing, so watch this space! ;)
